Scary Cellar Tours: Highbridge.

Finally, we are able to give a MASSIVE shout out to all of the young people involved in making
Scary Cellar Tours: Highbridge. Keep reading for more on the project and our very own
highlights video…

Throughout September and October we’ve been on a secret Theatre making mission – working
with a small group of NEET young people on SYT’s first lighting, sound and tech project titles
LX:1. Through a series of tech workshops with Bright* Productions & SYT, these young people,
who had no experience of tech, became our very own production team for Scary Cellar Tours at
Sopha in Highbridge.

The brilliant young people learnt skills in designing lighting, sound and set, gaining an Arts
Award to celebrate their discoveries and explorations.

Watching this group of young people, and the Highbridge Youth Theatre Company work
together to learn new skills and produce something so spectacular has been truly awe inspiring.
Great things really can happen when you put young people in the driving seat! They all
expressed an increase in confidence and well-being through the project, they were brave and
inspiring. We are so proud of each and every young person in the SYT family and want to shout
loudly from the rooftops about how great they all are. Here’s a sneak peak of Scary Cellar Tours
highlights:

A massive thank you to Matt, Emily and the team at Sopha who helped to bring the project to
life. You’ve shown what can happen when community partners work together to give young
people opportunities to thrive through Theatre and the Arts.

Huge thanks too to Seed Sedgmoor, Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Town Council, Bright*
Productions, Bravo events, Rev Martin and the team at St John’s Church Highbridge, and the
Ledge that is Dave at Ledger Solutions.

This is the first of our LX projects and we hope to run more workshops for young people to learn
skills in tech production and the behind-the-scenes stuff that supports performance. If you or
someone you know would like to know more, or get involved, email us at info@somersetyt.com

We also hold weekly SYT sessions across Somerset https://somersetyt.co.uk/ and our winter
holiday club Panto in a Week is coming up in December
