WE DO THIS BECAUSE YOUNG PEOPLE’S VOICES MATTER.

Do you love Acting, Drama, Games and all things Theatre? Would you like to make your
very own plays alongside the professionals?

Then come join us at Somerset Youth Theatre: Chard!

We are a youth theatre community in Chard that meet every week on a Monday, during
term time at the Chard Guildhall, Fore Street, Chard, TA20 1PP.

When signing up, we
ask that our members commit to attend every Monday throughout the term.

Somerset Youth Theatre:

Chard (9-14 year olds) meet Mondays 5.45 – 6.45pm

We provide safer spaces for young people to create, explore and find their voice through
Theatre and the Arts. Our sessions are delivered by professional Artists and
experienced facilitators with Enhanced DBS.

Sessions are offered using a ‘Pay What You Choose’ payment system. Places are fully
funded for those in receipt of FSM/PP. We understand that not everyone is in the same
financial position, so please pay what you feel you can. We would never turn any young
person away due to cost or access. We believe in Arts for ALL young people. We are
incredibly grateful to our funders and partners who support us to make this happen.

Chard Facilitators

David Reakes Yeovil Facilitator

Becky Dobson

Becky is an actor, writer, and drama practitioner working within the south west and beyond for the last 14 years.
With dreams of being an actor when a little girl, Becky studied drama and theatre up the ranks through Richard Huish College and onto Exeter University where she found her true love and calling – which was using drama to work with other people. Becky has worked as a drama practitioner with all ages – from 4 to 90+!

And her main focus and passion is using drama to instill confidence, self expression, creativity, and strong friendships and community for her participants.
Becky is also a working actor, and works providing realistic scenarios for training programmes and junior doctors (move aside, Holby and Casualty!). She has written plays that have been performed by young people both on stage and in site specific locations (including Paignton Zoo), and has written fiction books, one which is published on Amazon.
Becky has run and directed drama groups for many years and prides herself on creating inclusive groups where everyone feels welcomed and accepted. She cannot wait to meet you, and to create an exciting new community within Chard!’
