Play in a Week: The Chocolate Factory: What Charlie did next!

Monday 8th April – Thursday 11th April 2024

Age 6 -14?

Are you a fan of acting, dancing, and performing?

Have you heard of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory?

Ever wondered what it’s like to make a play, on stage or behind-the-scenes?

Then come join us as we create our very own play-in-a-week, based on the Roald Dahl classic, at The Princess Theatre & Arts Centre, Burnham-on-Sea this Easter!

Week: £85 or Day: £25

What can I expect?

Over the week, you will be creating your own piece of theatre, from scratch, with some of Somerset’s most exciting professional theatre makers. During the action-packed four days working with Somerset Youth Theatre, you will make a Play that you will perform in Burnham-on-Sea at the end of the week.

Expect Oompa Loompas, Golden Tickets and Sweets galore as we explore what exactly happened after Wonka gave the Chocolate Factory to Charlie Bucket!

And there’s more… During the week, you’ll learn how to stage and perform in a play as professional actors teach you the skills and techniques of Dance, Theatre and play making.

The Week Will Include:

Acting, Directing and Making a Play: Learn the skills to make and create your own play that is sure to make your audience laugh (and maybe even cry!). Creating your own story participants will work together to make a play in 3 days, and rehearse and perform to the audience on the 4th day. Hone your skills in acting and/or directing – the choice is yours.

No experience necessary, and a willingness to play a must!

Dance, Movement & Physical Theatre: Ever wondered how performers remember their moves and come up with ideas? Learn performance and choreography, with your friends and as part of a cast.
