Mhairi is a Youth Theatre Facilitator with Somerset Youth Theatre, currently supporting sessions in Cheddar and Highbridge as part of her Early Careers Pathways placement.
She holds a BA (Hons) in Theatre Design from Nottingham Trent University, where she developed a strong foundation in creative set and prop building, visual storytelling, and hands-on problem-solving. For the past three years, Mhairi has worked in a SEND school, gaining valuable experience supporting young people with diverse needs through creative and inclusive approaches.
Passionate about the transformative power of theatre, Mhairi is particularly drawn to Theatre in Education and its potential to benefit young people across the curriculum and in personal development. She loves using hands-on creative work – designing, building, and collaborating – to help participants explore their ideas, build confidence, and find their voices in a supportive environment. Joining SYT feels like a perfect fit, allowing her to bring her design expertise and enthusiasm for accessible arts to young people in Somerset.
In her spare time, Mhairi enjoys getting outdoors – whether exploring the stunning Somerset countryside on long walks, or discovering the county’s trails, gorges, hills, and coastal paths. She’s always up for an adventure in the Mendips, Quantocks, or along the levels, soaking up the fresh air and natural beauty that makes Somerset such a special place to live and work.
