I have been teaching Drama for nearly 30 years (blimey, that’s scary) twenty in mainstream and presently in special education.
But where did it begin???? I have incredibly fond memories of the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon being my second home – where my passion for the Arts began.
I grew up not really knowing what I wanted to do, but knew it had to involve Drama in some capacity and after a wild stint in Tesco! and training to be a Primary School teacher I finally found my true vocation as Head of Drama at Frogmore College Yately.
After a few years of busy Surrey life, I decided to slow things down (and couldn’t afford the house prices) so decided to land in Somerset and after meeting my wonderful husband and taking on two little ones, I was settled for life!
The two little ones then became complex bigger ones and I began to feel more and more isolated, with no real tribes for these incredibly energetic, vivacious and excitable individuals to belong – another passion began – mine and other children, lost without a place to fit in.
I believe all children have the right to feel safe, be part of a community, have fun and should feel heard.
I am pleased and beyond proud to be part of such a supportive and thriving community trying our best to make sure that all children have a voice.
