Play in a Week: Stage Combat & Silly Stories – The Great Jelly Smash!

Ever wondered what it’s like to make a play, on stage or behind-the-scenes?
Then come join us as we create our very own play-in-a-week, at The Princess Theatre & Arts Centre, Burnham – on – Sea this Easter!
Week: £85 or Day: £25
Want to learn how to act, make your own plays and pretend you’re in a fight? Then come join us and make a play-in-a-week at Burnham-on-Sea this Easter! Work with the professionals from Somerset Youth Theatre cic, make a new play and build an EPIC stage battle in just four days!!
What can I expect?
Stage Combat – Ever wondered how actors make those stage fights look so real? Work together with our team of professional actors to learn the skills of stage combat. From sword fights, hair grabs, to stage slaps and upper cuts – these workshops will teach you how to become a disciplined and convincing stage-fighting actor, understanding the techniques needed to grab the audience’s attention. Work together to build an epic stage battle in 3 days, and perform to the audience on the 4th day! No matter your age, Stage Combat is super fun, high energy and suitable for all young people!
Silly Stories – Learn the skills to create your own play that is sure to make your audience laugh (and maybe even cry!). Participants will work together to make a play in 3 days, with rehearsal and performance to the audience on the 4th day. Hone your skills in acting and/or directing – the choice is yours. No experience necessary, and a willingness to play a must!
Lunch and Snacks each day included.

What specialist provision will you have for SEND and how should families access this?: Somerset Youth Theatre will contact parents/carers prior to the activity to discuss the young person’s needs. Coloured paper and overlays as well as Large Print instructions/scripts will be provided as necessary. There will be quiet space available and children can have their own sound defenders if necessary.
