OUR POLICIES

Somerset Youth Theatre is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where young people can express themselves, develop their creativity, and build confidence through the performing arts. Our policies and procedures are designed to ensure the wellbeing, safety, and fair treatment of all participants, staff, and volunteers. They outline our commitment to safeguarding, equality, health and safety, data protection, and best practice in all aspects of our work. SYT regularly reviews these policies to maintain high standards of professionalism, transparency, and care in everything we do.

SYT is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children, young people, and adults involved in its work. Everyone has a right to be protected from harm, and safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. The policy outlines procedures for safe recruitment, reporting concerns, handling disclosures, and maintaining safe, respectful conduct across all activities.

Keeping Ourselves Safe Online at SYT

This policy ensures that everyone participating in SYT’s online activities does so in a safe, respectful, and secure environment. It sets clear behaviour expectations for children, young people, staff, and volunteers when using digital platforms, and includes guidance for online sessions, pre-recorded content, and reporting concerns.

SYT Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Pledge

SYT believes theatre belongs to everyone. This pledge commits to creating inclusive, accessible, and neuro-affirming spaces where every child and young person feels valued. It celebrates diversity, promotes equal opportunities, and works to remove barriers to participation in all SYT activities.
